The Secret Coast: Our Local Guide

1. The Local Favorites (In & Around Gostoso)

  • Praia de Tourinhos (The "Must-See"):

    • The Vibe: Famous for its "petrified dunes" (centuries-old rock formations) and the best sunset in town.

    • Activity: Go in the late afternoon. You can drive, take a buggy, or even a quadricycle (about 15-20 min from the villa).

    • Grab a seat at a rustic beach bar, sip on a cold caipirinha, and settle in for the area's most legendary sunset views.

    • Pro Tip: Look for the "Baleia" (Whale) rock formation and stay until the sun dips into the ocean—it’s a ritual here.

  • Horseback Riding:

    • The Route: Most rides take you along the quiet sands of Praia do Maceió or through the coconut groves.

    • Experience: It is best done at low tide during sunrise or sunset. VF Passeios is the best in the business and can arrange a pickup directly from Villa Sa Roqueta.

2. Iconic Day Trips (Nature & Adventure)

  • Tao Paradise (Pureza):

    • The Vibe: An exclusive "day-use" garden oasis built around crystal-clear spring-fed rivers. It feels like a private jungle in the Maldives.

    • Distance: About 50km (45-60 min drive) from Gostoso.

    • Note: Reservations are mandatory and often book up weeks in advance. It includes a high-end, slow-food Italian lunch served on a private stilt hut over the water.

  • Perobas (Snorkeling):

    • The Vibe: These are "Parrachos" (coral reefs) that form shallow natural pools far out at sea.

    • Activity: You take a speedboat from the beach

    • at Perobas. The water is chest-deep, crystal clear, and full of colorful fish.

    • Timing: This is entirely dependent on the tide table. You must go when the tide is low (0.0 to 0.3 is ideal).

  • Galinhos:

    • The Vibe: A remote, car-free fishing village located on a peninsula. It feels like stepping back in time.

    • The Tour: Usually involves a buggy ride across the dunes or a boat tour through the mangroves.

    • Distance: Roughly 80km from Gostoso. It’s a full-day commitment but offers incredible scenery of salt flats and wild dunes.

    • Our Local Guide will organize your buggy trip, boat ride, and an unforgettable feast on the sand dunes consisting of freshly picked oysters from the lagoon, sashimi, prawns, ceviche, fresh barbecued fish, fresh fruit, and of course all washed down with a cold beer or Caipirinha.

  • Marco Zero (BR-101): Visit the start of the famous highway that runs the length of Brazil. There is a monument designed by Oscar Niemeyer just a short drive from the village.

  • Shopping at Rua da Xepa and Av. dos Arrecifes: In the evenings, these streets become the heart of the town. Visit local boutiques for clothing, "renda" (traditonal lace) and handmade souvenirs.
